Small habits to reduce your energy bills

Lowering your bills doesn’t have to cost a lot and can be easy. Start with these small habits.

Wash clothes in cold water. Hang your washing to dry. Only run full loads in the washing machine and dishwasher.

Turn off appliances and lights if you don’t need them on. Rug up and wear more clothing before you turn the heater on. Close your curtains and blinds.

And set your heating to between 18 and 20 degrees in winter, and cooling to between 23 and 26 degrees in summer.

Draught-proofing and insulation can keep it comfortable inside. Stop drafts, seal gaps, and insulate ceiling, wall and underfloor spaces to help keep your energy bills down.

And plan ahead so you don’t get caught out when an appliance breaks down! Be ready to replace them with energy efficient products you can afford.
