Product lists for our programs

Please refer to these lists when you discuss product options with your customers – and make sure the system you install only uses products on these lists. These lists are updated regularly, so always check back here for the most up-to-date information.

Important reminder: All solar PV, battery and hot water systems installed under our programs must also comply with the requirements specified in the Notice to Market.

Solar panels (PV)

To qualify for a solar panel (PV) rebate, consumers must select from products listed on the Solar Victoria solar panel (PV) product list:

Inverters

To qualify for a solar panel (PV) rebate, consumers must select from inverters listed on the Solar Victoria inverter product list:

The Clean Energy Council maintains a list of approved inverters that meet Australian Standards for use in the design and installation of solar panel (PV) systems.

All solar PV inverters on our list are compliant to IEEE 2030.5-2018 and Common Smart Inverter Profile (CSIP)-AUS ready. This requirement came into effect through the Notice to Market on 1 March 2024.

Further updates to the inverter product list will be made progressively as more inverters become certified with a software client conforming to IEEE 2030.5-2018.

Hot water products

To qualify for a hot water rebate, consumers must select from hot water products listed on the Solar Victoria hot water product list:

This list consolidates the Clean Energy Regulator's Register of approved solar providers and the Victorian Essential Services Commission’s Registered Products list.

Products eligible under the hot water locally made incentive

To qualify for a hot water rebate under the locally made incentive, consumers must select from products eligible for the higher rebate value of up to $1,400 in this list:

We will progressively identify eligible locally made products in the hot water product list, giving consumers more choice to support Australian businesses. More products will follow as manufacturers submit their applications to us.

Products do not need to be 100% made in Australia to attract the higher rebate of up to $1,400. ‘Locally made’ means that the product supports local manufacturing jobs, with at least 50% locally made or assembled parts. See our definition of local content.

Apply for listing as a hot water product with local content

Manufacturers and suppliers can at any time apply for listing as a hot water product with local content. We consulted with manufacturers, industry peak bodies and unions to develop the criteria to demonstrate local content.

All hot water heat pumps on our list:

• come with a comprehensive five-year product warranty
• are registered as being tested for energy consumption performance in accordance with AS/NZS 4234:2021 under the Victorian Energy Upgrades program;
• contain only low Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerants, i.e. below 700; and
• have an end-user configurable integrated timer located on the outside of the unit, or one that can be connected to a solar PV system to run the hot water during periods of solar generation.

Solar batteries

To qualify for an interest-free solar battery loan, consumers must install a battery from the Solar Victoria battery product list that has a capacity equal to or greater than 6kWh.
