The Victorian Government is funding these grants to help reduce carbon emissions and household energy costs while creating healthier and more comfortable living spaces for Victorians.
The grants enable eligible organisations to deliver microlearning training resources to construction industry participants, such as builders, tradesperson and allied workers. It has been developed for delivery over two streams and includes:
- Pathways to net zero and benefits of low carbon homes
- Net zero, National Construction Code and the policy landscape
- Introducing passive solar design
- Window technology
- Creating a high performing envelope (doors, air leakage and caulks)
- Insulation, building wraps and tapes
- Thermal bridging and thermal breaks
- Quality control and testing performance (blower door, infra-red, and IAQ)
- Vapour, condensation and mould
- Indoor air quality
- Ventilation and ventilation systems
- Achieving air and thermal management
- Whole of home – National Construction Code energy consumption performance
- Electrification
- Energy efficient appliance selection
- Photovoltaics, batteries and EV charging.

The total funding available to successful applicants is $200,000 (including GST) over the period February to May 2025. Funding for delivery will be paid based on participant completion, as stated in the Application Guidelines below.
This training is funded through Solar Victoria’s $1 million investment in targeted training delivered through the Renewable Homes Construction Training program which aims to support residential construction industry trades and professions to design and construct energy efficient 7-star rated and all-electric homes.
Who can apply
Applications for grants to deliver this training are open to private sector businesses, training organisations, trade unions and industry associations that can demonstrate they can meet the eligibility criteria listed below and in the Application Guidelines.
Individuals and government agencies cannot apply.
Applicants must:
- be an incorporated body, cooperative or association (including business associations) with an A.B.N.
- be financially solvent (and be prepared to demonstrate financial solvency)
- have capacity to deliver facilitated training (online and/ or in-person) to Victorian participants using provided facilitator briefing packs
- have capacity to host and administer online training materials using provided Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) packages
- have experience in delivering training to the construction industry
- have capacity to administer training, including scheduling training sessions, managing enrolments, student course queries, issuance of non-accredited certificates, ensuring students are eligible in accordance with grant conditions, reporting, etc
- have experience and capacity to promote and advertise training to the construction industry and generate a pipeline of students.
